This ’04 Ultra Classic was already a beautiful bike; heavily laden in chrome options and H-D accessories before it was presented for custom work here. The owner is meticulous in the care of his ride and it shows, this is why I believe he approached this project with trepidation. While he was anxious to add a custom touch that would garner attention beyond what simple bolt on accessories could achieve, he wanted to be sure this wouldn’t be a move he would regret. He began by showing me a magazine advertisement for a popular local band, asking if I thought I could pull off the design on his fairing. With a smile I told him I thought I could top it. He and I went back and forth over it for some time until he decided to pull the trigger.

This bike is back for an update.  we added some “true fire” flames to the saddle bags to add some of the color and detail from the front to the rear. 

The design he showed me was a line drawing of a flaming eagle but the flames were more of a traditional Hot Rod design than real flame and it lent a cartoonish appearance to the design that I thought would end up looking tacky and cheap on an otherwise classy bike. With a look of apprehension he agreed to let me loose on his ride with my idea of how  it should look. After what must have been a torturous wait He came to the shop to view the results and I haven’t seen doubt on his face since. What he and I discussed as a flaming eagle has turned into the Phoenix you see here. It is met with rave reviews everywhere he takes it and he is extremely proud to show  it off. The best news out of all this is that a new found friend is now a regular customer here at Underground Chopper.

with the addition of the custom painted bags it gives the bike the look of a full custom paint job but all we did was a couple of the accessories.
