This 1997 Sportster was a plain, run of the mill sporty with a drab and dull purple paint job and a pair of factory mags.

We started with a quality pair of 40 spoke rims that we were able to score used, but in nice shape so that we were able to pass big savings on to our customer.

 

We installed a 2" stretched 4 gallon tank and kept the fenders from the factory.  The owner of this bike was very specific about the flames location and how far toward the rear of the bike they traveled, he was also specific about having some of the flames leaping off the main flames (an effect tough to see in photos).

A Screaming eagle open element air cleaner assembly was installed and we wrapped up the job by giving the sporty a spin on the dyno to verify proper carb. jetting.

The owner of the bike researched his ideas and came to us knowing exactly what he wanted.  He let us in on his madness and entrusted us to bring his vision to life.

The chrome rims and spokes make for a much cleaner look.  The factory mags with their black powdercoat seem to make the bike look like it is always dirty. 

The skulls integrated into the flames were his idea as well.  We tested some ideas for him on a guitar (seen elsewhere on this site) and then went to town on his tins to arrive at the effect seen here.  As far as we can tell he is delighted with the results.

This bike just goes to show how much a custom paint job and some minor modifications can completely turn a bike around, all on a reasonable budget.  Check back here for future updates as this bikes owner continues to improve upon this sharp looking sporty.
