1966 Sportster

The following are shots of a bike that we haven't completed yet. The owner needs to sell so we will finish this project when someone takes over for him.

Old school? New school? Naaah...School is out and the real deal is right here. This is a 1966 Sportster and it doesn't get any more custom than this. The more time you spend looking at it the more things you will find to make you say hmmm.

From swap meet scores on the handlebars and forks to the UGC built frame and controls, this bike screams chopper. We used a Wyatt Gattling prism fuel tank and constructed a stainless steel jockey shifter complete with teak grips (inspired by the old MOPAR 4 speed shifters) to round out the look.

One very cool feature is the Buell rear wheel tire and rotor. This insures that parts will be available for future maintenance. A Hawg Hawlter 4-piston rear caliper provides all the stopping power. The rider stays comfy on the UGC built seat.

The UGC engineered and built jackshaft assembly may be the jewel of this bike. This setup transfers power from the stock chain drive to a modern 1 1/2" drive belt and brings the belt outboard enough to clear the wide tire. The whole setup rides on a solid steel hub and utilizes the same 1" sealed wheel bearings as the rear wheel (another use of production parts for ease of maintenance). Notice the floating rear fender with no visible means of mounting; it started its life on the back of an Ultra but we narrowed, trimmed and tucked it into this.
